With the major exception of books, I have finally tied up all of my loose ends and am really to start the nursing program Monday.

Donuts and Vodka for Dinner
Sigh...
This has been quite the weekend. Fortunately, the kids seemed to have run their course of the H1N1 in about 72 hours each. However, Cam has us a bit worried. He now has several significant and unexplained bruises. He also had what was likely a bloody nose. Of course he could have just managed to aspirate enough of the dust from his red temporary spray-on hair dye that he just appeared to have a bloody nose. Regardless, for fear of the worst (and as a measure of prudence) he is scheduled for a Dr's appointment. Mom has clotting issues stemming from an over active immune system, which falls right in line with what we have learned about the most common cause of acute onset excessive bruising issues in pediatrics.
And that was just the weekend. Today brought a total of three exams (my two were mid-terms), an essay for British Lit, two work schedules , five people each with different school schedules, and oh yeah... no transportation. I managed to make it to the school this morning, but while I was supposed to be taking my first mid-term SOMEBODY kept calling and texting incessantly. I finally responded around the time the kids were supposed to start class only to find out that a very ambitious furry critter with particularly shape teeth turn my wife's engine into an immobile over grown nest. (The perfect "motor-home?") Anyway, after lamenting our luck and whining for what seemed like an appropriate length of time I jumped into my truck to save the day, and promptly broke my truck. Yay! Way to go hero. So, now I'm stranded at school, and the wife and kids are stranded at home. Despite all the odds, or perhaps because of the odds, the famous line from the gay announcer guy on Project Runway came to mind, "Make it work..."

*cough... cough... Hack...*
Man it's dusty in here! Someone seriously needs to start using this place more often. I'm thinking that I might use it as a nursing thing, and what better place to start than at the beginning? On Friday I found out that both my wife and I were accepted to the nursing program at Pierce. Twenty months from now there should be two new nurses ready to learn what we all we didn't learn in school.

Cam's fifth B-day
His birthday was technically on Thursday, but I had to head to the college, which meet that he had to head to school as well. So, instead we made him Prince of the Day today. For as long as I can remember we have made an effort to help the kid's birthdays stand out from all of other days, and be that much more special by making them Prince or Princess for the day, allowing them to have whatever meals, games, movies, or other activities they want for the day. We started out the day by going to IHOP, ("You mean they have PANCAKE restaurants?"). I felt a little bad that he took me so seriously when he asked me about the presents and I replied, "Oh shoot! I forgot about presents. I'm sorry kiddo. We'll get you presents next year, okay?"
He literally wandered off in tears, so I asked him to see if his siblings forgot to get anything out of the back of the car while he was up. Mean, I know. The scooter made quick work of reversing his mood, and I pray I never forgot just how excited he got about getting his very own jar of pickles. (The world would be a much simpler place if our wants were so easily satisfied.) The new bike made the night magic, and Kung Fu Panda made it fun. All in all a good night. Now we have to get the house ready for Trin's re-scheduled birthday party.

On my way to work at the school today...
I decided to have Cam "help" me get the lake water for the microscope practice labs. He had his little rubber boots on and was all excited about helping me out with work. As we were walking from the car toward the lake I was telling him, "So the best place to get the good water we want is going to be were the ducks are hanging out cause the ducks like to eat the little things we are going to capture in the pitcher."
As we were cresting the little hill upon seeing all of the ducks clustered in the very middle of the lake Cam innocently replied, "Ok, but we don't walk on the water as good as they do, do we?

New template, finally!
It only took a full day of scouring the internet, only to decide that I didn't like any of the existing templates, another full day learning how to modify css, and a third day to bring it all together in a decent looking format. I think my family misses me (even if I'm sitting on the couch in the same room as everyone else) when I get into my all consuming multi-day projects like this. It is not unusual for me to get so into the projects that I fail to eat, sleep, bathe, or anything else until I get to my little mental milestone of the day.
